Cybele

Cybele is a miniature self-assembling landscape created from interlocking biodegradable membrane ’tiles’. Serrated cellulose edges, fitted with barbs similar to porcupine quills or burdock burrs, encourage burrowing and knitting action. Each tile is detailed with independent supports and reservoir functions, encouraging autonomous behaviour within the constrained environment of this array. Massed bladders provide fluid reservoirs within this primitive soul. Structural details include rare-earth magnet joints that pull individual tiles into semi-regular crystal packing patterns.
